This tour will provide an insight into what happened to so many innocent people in Terezin, through viewing actual artifacts, children's drawings, poetry and other rare items which survived their owners and speak so eloquently for them. I will make sure to explain with sensitivity and I will be happy to answer all your questions. We will start the tour in Prague with a hotel pickup and a 50 min drive to Terezín. Along the way, you will learn about the history of the Czech Republic and what it was like during the occupation in World War II and the tragic fate of the Jews in former Czechoslovakia and Eastern Europe. Upon arriving at Terezín, we will visit the Large Fortress and the Terezín Museum. We will take a walk through the Magdeburg Barracks, the hidden synagogue, the Jewish cemetery, the Menorah monument, and the crematorium and visit the Small Fortress to spend time exploring the Gestapo prison, the single and mass cells and a secret tunnel that we have access to that most visitors do not get to see.
-Hotel pick-up in the morning, preferably at 8 a. m. to beat the crowds at the ticket office -On the way to Terezín (50 minutes) I will talk about the history of the Czech Republic and what it was like during the occupation in World War II and the tragic fate of the Jews in former Czechoslovakia and Eastern Europe -View the Large Fortress and visit the Terezín Museum -Afterwards, there is the Magdeburg Barracks, the hidden synagogue, the Jewish cemetery, the Menorah monument, and the crematorium. -We will visit the Small Fortress to spend time exploring the Gestapo prison, the single and mass cells, and a secret tunnel that most visitors do not get to see. For your information, We will join another small group with a local guide who has access, for this 50 minute tour. -Then we will drive back to Prague -If hungry, we can grab lunch in Prague before going to the Terezin memorial. There is no restaurant nearby Terezin.
