In this complete tour to Toledo, you will be discovering the main areas (the "Cobertizos" quarter, the Jewish quarter, the main square, etc) and you'll uncover the mysteries of its most iconic corners full of millenary legends. Feel the flavor of its marzipan, dive into its narrow evoking streets. Witness the history in this unchanged scenario, wonder before the sheer cliffs over the Tagus river where Carpetans, Romans, Visigoths, Jews, Arabs, and Christians lived, loved and died for the last 2. 500 years.
We will take the fast speed train from Madrid which will take us to Toledo in 30 minutes. Once there we will head for the historical city (you can choose if by taxi or by a short 15 minutes walk). - Introduction to Toledo's History and Art. - The walls: Bisagra Gate, Puerta del Sol and Bab-al-Mardun's gates. - Mosque of the Christ of Light, "el Cristo de la Luz". - Cobertizos Quarter, the coziest and less crowded area full of convents and romantic palaces. - Cathedral: 1-hour tour inside one of the finest Gothic cathedrals in Europe. - Jewish quarter with its narrow streets, its synagogues (visit to one of them or the two as you wish) and visit to "El Entierro del Señor de Orgaz" the masterpiece of El Greco. - San Juan de los Reyes church: the Catholic Monarchs tomb project (if time allows) During the day we will stop for a lunch break (either on your own or in a typical restaurant of your choice) and after that, we will go on with the tour. Transportation by high speed train from Madrid to Toledo (not included in the price: 22,20€ per person + guide's). Once there taxi to the main gate/square or walking tour from the station. The same for the way back.
